I can hardly believe how quickly 6 months have gone by and how quickly Ollie has grown! I feel as though she’s changing every day. Lately, Ben and I say her “magic arm” points to everything she wants to touch and explore. By making animal noises and saying “Brr! It’s cold outside!” we can hear her sweet chuckle. She’s begun trying purées and is getting closer to crawling. As we look toward the year ahead, we’re [sadly] preparing to move Ollie’s crib to her very own room. In addition to our playroom and entryway projects, another project we’re working on is creating a nursery for Ollie. Our guest bedroom will become her nursery, so I’ve already begun dreaming up a beautiful, garden-inspired space for her. (She is mesmerized by trees and loves going to the Conservatory in Saint Paul — so we hope it’s a space she loves and feels cozy in.) Here’s what I’m envisioning:
Garden Inspired Nursery
Cradlewise Smart Crib — 1
We chose Cradlewise, not only because of features we love and value like a built-in camera, built-in sound machine, and bouncing features — but also because her Cradlewise crib can grow with her and change from a bassinet to a crib really seamlessly. So, as we plan for Ollie’s nursery, her Cradlewise crib will simply move from our bedroom to her nursery. It’s very easy to move and works well in small spaces. Babyletto Cali Glider — 2
Our glider will also move from our bedroom to her nursery. We chose the Babyletto Cali Glider, because it is comfortable, modern, and another space-saving piece of furniture. This glider can easily be dressed up with a throw pillow or blanket — but I just love how simple and cozy it is. I have truly cherished rocking her to sleep in our glider.
Quince Cotton Slub Blackout Curtains — 3
One reason I am excited for Ollie to move to her nursery is so she can sleep in a darker space — something I learned is extremely helpful from our baby sleep class. Our bedroom, with its many windows, doesn’t get quite as dark as we need it to. Ollie’s nursery, on the other hand, will be a much better space for her. I purchased blackout curtains from Quince. In particular, I love how these have a beautiful texture, but also have a blackout liner.
Pottery Barn Kids Wall Art — 4
I absolutely love this gallery wall art from Pottery Barn Kids. I have found similar styles on Etsy, too. I feel like they perfectly blend youthful with classic — and could remain on her walls for years to come.
H&M Quilted Storage Baskets — 5
These baskets from H&M are just so cute! With the open shelving on her new changing table, I wanted to find cute storage solutions — and these baskets are just what I was hoping for! I plan to use them for her diapers and other essentials because the tall acrylic storage space we currently use will no longer fit.
Pottery Barn Kids Rattan Lamp — 6
In reality, I don’t actually have a space picked for a lamp — but I needed to share this very beautiful lamp from Pottery Barn Kids. It’s perfect for a garden-inspired nursery.
Pottery Barn Kids Sloan Changing Table — 7
Because we currently use our dresser top as Ollie’s changing table (It houses her changing pad, her sound machine, and an acrylic storage space.) we needed to buy a changing table for her nursery. This changing table from Pottery Barn Kids is exactly what I was looking for, because it has drawers as well as open shelving. While our bedroom does work well for housing all of Ollie’s essentials, they are spread among different spaces in our bedroom. I love how, with this changing table, her clothes and essentials can be housed in one convenient place.
Pottery Barn Kids Baby Quilt — 8
This baby quilt can be customized with your baby’s name, which is such a sweet detail! Before Ollie was born, I picked out a quilt with clementines on it for her. During pregnancy, whenever I ate clementines — which I craved constantly — she would kick in my belly. So, clementines have a special place in my heart because of our sweet Ollie.
I am so excited — yet it feels so bittersweet — to be planning for Ollie to have a room of her own, and I hope she loves her cozy new space! Stay tuned!
