I can hardly believe our third trimester is here! These days, pregnancy is going quickly and slowly all at once. Overall, I’m feeling really good — just a few aches and pains here and there. I’m really enjoying every unique stage of pregnancy, knowing how quickly we move from one stage to another! It seems like just yesterday I was feeling my first flutters — and now I can feel Teeny kick, roll, and move regularly. She’s really growing!
Here is a recap of Weeks 24-27:
Second Trimester of Pregnancy: Weeks 24-27
Week 24 of Pregnancy
When Week 24 began, my pregnancy app said Teeny would double in size over the course of the upcoming 4 weeks. My baby bump has seemed to visibly grow with each passing day.
During Week 24, I took my first pregnant plane ride (Actually, my second plane ride if we count being a few days pregnant when Ben and I traveled to Greenville, South Carolina in October) to Indianapolis, Indiana for a long weekend.
Traveling while pregnant was a totally unique experience; I found I couldn’t quite weave my way through an airport the way I once could — and I needed Ben’s help with so much. We enjoyed our weekend getaway, but I also couldn’t wait to be reunited with my pregnancy pillow!
Week 25 of Pregnancy
In Week 25, we took another plane ride to Miami, Florida for our babymoon! Our goal was to have a relaxing getaway, to enjoy the sunshine by the pool or beach, and to talk about our hopes for Teeny and for parenthood overall… and we were able to do exactly that!
Having learned from our trip to Indianapolis — in Miami, I did a much better job of listening to my body, resting, and staying hydrated — especially in the warm weather! Here, I shared about our babymoon from beginning to end, including where we stayed and the restaurants we enjoyed.
Overall, I’m grateful we had an opportunity to relax together, plan for Teeny’s arrival, and escape Minnesota winter!
Week 26 of Pregnancy
In Week 26, I was back to work at With Grace and Gold, where I had a productive week! Right now, I’m managing my everyday to-dos while chipping away at a maternity leave to-do list, too. At times, it’s been busy — but I really love what I do. I’m also always grateful to be able to work from home, to have flexibility in my day, and to work with kind clients who are so happy to hear about our pregnancy.
Week 27 of Pregnancy
In Week 27, Ben and I traveled to Wisconsin for our baby shower — which was overwhelmingly beautifully planned, designed, and hosted by my generous and extremely talented best friend, who I truly consider my sister, Andra.
Our shower was held at Batten House at Boxed and Burlap in Delavan, Wisconsin. For years, Boxed and Burlap has been my happy place when Ben and I go to Delavan — especially in summer. It’s a really quaint coffee shop with a beautiful patio, and in the summer, weddings are hosted there. I’ve always dreamed of having or hosting a party there, and I just feel really lucky and in disbelief we had our very own baby shower there.
Andra surprised me with our theme, so walking in and seeing how beautifully-decorated this space was, was truly overwhelming. Flowers, vegetables, seed packets, homemade jams, a plant-based lunch, and vegan cupcakes… every detail was exactly what my heart dreamed of and needed.
We celebrated alongside about 30 family members and friends (We all braved a somewhat-unexpected snow storm to get there!) and I’m truly so grateful for everyone who attended and helped us to celebrate our journey toward parenthood and Teeny’s arrival. We played a couple of hilarious games, received special and helpful gifts, and we really did feel showered with love and encouragement — which is everything I could have hoped for and more.
Now, our third trimester is officially here! We have zero travels planned for the upcoming 5 months, and I’m really glad to have an opportunity to “nest” and prepare for all the goodness ahead!
