Postpartum recovery is not for the faint of heart — particularly following 1.5 days of labor, an emergency c-section, and postpartum hemorrhage at the age of 35. 👵🏻 When we returned home from our hospital stay, I was determined to recover as quickly as I could. Though I finally began feeling better 5.5 months later, I did discover more about what worked well for me along the way — and the products I continue to use today to keep feeling strong and healthy. Today, I’m sharing supplements for postpartum recovery — the go-to vitamins and supplements I’ve personally depended on during postpartum recovery. (Of course, you’ll want to discuss any and all of your chosen vitamins and supplements with your healthcare provider; I just wanted to share a bit more about my postpartum recovery journey here today!)
My Go-To Postpartum Supplements
Ritual Postnatal Vitamins
During pregnancy, I used Ritual’s prenatal vitamins, and once Ollie was born, I switched to Ritual’s postnatal vitamins. I’ve always loved that Ritual vitamins are vegan, and that they have flavoring to help with nausea.
Anya Postnatal Vitamins
As postpartum recovery became more challenging for me, I discovered Anya, which offers a more comprehensive, well-rounded series of vitamins and supplements to aid in postpartum recovery. When my Ritual vitamins were finished, I switched to Anya’s multivitamins, and I also began using Anya’s scalp serum and lactation tea.
Pink Stork Mood Support Gummies
Having had PTSD, I knew I’d be at a higher risk for experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression, so I proactively took Pink Stork Mood Support Gummies.
Pink Stork Postpartum Hair Loss Gummies
Friends of mine had shared about postpartum hair loss, so I also proactively took Pink Stork Postpartum Hair Loss Gummies. Now, at 6 months postpartum, I believe the worst of my hair loss is behind me, and I’ve already begun growing new hair. I do believe these gummies have been effective for mem because my hair loss was minimal. (It was scary, of course — but minimal.)
Vitamin B
Because I follow a plant-based vegan diet, I take Vitamin B. Here is an explanation from Forks Over Knives regarding why vegans and vegetarians are advised to take Vitamin B.
Vitamin D
Per our pediatrician’s recommendation, I take Vitamin D so Vitamin D is present in my breastmilk for Ollie’s consumption.
Llama Naturals Prebiotic and Probiotic Gummies
Lastly, I use Llama Naturals Prebiotic and Probiotic Gummies which provide digestive support. Postpartum can do funky things to the digestive system, so having a dependable prebiotic and probiotic can make a meaningful difference.
Thank you to Llama Naturals for generously gifting your Prebiotic & Probiotics!
