The Weekly Edit is a weekly snapshot of the small things shaping my days lately. Thoughtful rhythms at home, gentle mindset shifts, and everyday moments that feel especially meaningful in this season. This week was less about productivity and more about recovery, presence, and letting life move at a softer pace. Consider this your pause at the end of the week.
Something I’m Loving at Home
This week felt different — slower, quieter, and centered around recovery. Ollie and I were both coming off colds, which meant a lot of resting together, warm soup (Butternut squash!) and leaning into a gentler rhythm than usual. It was a long week of healing side by side, and there was something quietly comforting about moving through it together.
Before the work week began, we rearranged my office, and it’s already changed how the space feels. My desk had been facing the wall, but now it faces our bay window, overlooking our front garden. We have massive hydrangeas out front (My absolute favorite!) and even though they won’t bloom until late spring, I can already imagine it. The windows open, a summer breeze drifting in, and watching the flowers gently bob while I work.
We also kept up our usual decluttering routine, which helped our home feel calm even in the midst of sickness. Pair that with sunshine every day this week, and suddenly it feels like spring might actually be on its way.
Something I’m Wearing / Using
This week, I made a point to fully get ready every day — even while sick, even during a busy work week. It’s not something I always do, but sticking to my simple five-minute makeup routine genuinely helped me feel better and more like myself.
I’ve also been wearing the same cozy Alo sweatshirt on repeat. Ollie loves it (Which automatically makes it a favorite!) and it’s become one of those pieces that feels comforting and familiar… perfect for this season where comfort really is the priority.
Something I’m Reading / Watching / Listening To
Right now, Ollie is absolutely obsessed with My Favorite Color, and we’ve read it more times than I can count. It’s simple, sweet, and one of those books that quietly becomes part of your daily rhythm.
In the evenings, Ben and I have been watching the new season of Queer Eye. We’ve always loved this show — it’s encouraging, emotional in the best way, and a reminder of how powerful kindness, growth, and self-belief can be.
And on repeat in our house lately: Fire Trucks. Ollie loves this song so much, and honestly, watching her light up over something so small feels like the best soundtrack there is.
Something Worth Trying
This week, I did something I’ve been thinking about for a long time — I started a completely new Instagram profile.
Starting from scratch creatively feels both exciting and vulnerable. I’m in such a different season of life than I was when I started my original account back in 2013, and creating a space that reflects who I am now feels deeply meaningful. It’s less about reinvention and more about alignment.
If you’re curious, you can find me at @kellymariezugay. I’m excited to let this space evolve slowly, honestly, and in a way I feel proud of.
Something Inspiring Me
With the Winter Olympics coming up, I’ve been feeling unexpectedly emotional thinking about it.
There’s something so powerful about watching people operate at the peak of their human experience — showcasing strengths they’ve spent their entire lives refining. Sports, music, dance, theater… I love any kind of performance that reflects deep dedication and passion.
It’s a reminder of what’s possible when people commit fully to what they love. And maybe also a reminder that growth doesn’t always need to be loud or fast. Sometimes it’s quiet, steady, and unfolding exactly as it should.
Each Weekly Edit is simply a snapshot of what’s resonating in my life right now — from motherhood and home to creativity, rest, and mindset. My hope is that this space feels grounding, honest, and easy to return to. A new edit will be here every Friday, always rooted in real life.
