If you are in the middle of planning a babymoon and Miami is on your list, I am here to tell you to book it. We spent five days in South Beach during my pregnancy, and it was one of the most beautiful, relaxing, and genuinely memorable trips Ben and I have ever taken together. I still think about those mornings on the porch of our hotel, the slow walks along Ocean Drive, and the conversations we had about the little person who was on their way to us. It was exactly what we did not know we needed, and I want to help you plan something just as wonderful.
Here is everything: how we chose Miami, where we stayed, where we ate, and what made this trip feel as magical as it did.
Why We Chose Miami, Florida for Our Babymoon
When we first started talking about a babymoon, we genuinely were not sure we were going to do it. A new baby brings so many new expenses, and adding travel on top of that felt like a lot. But a few of the pregnancy books we had been reading mentioned how special it can be to have one last trip away together — just the two of you — before everything beautifully changes. That idea stayed with us, and eventually, we decided to go for it. We are so glad we did.
We landed on Miami — specifically South Beach — after weighing a few different options. We knew we wanted somewhere warm and sunny (Minnesota winters have a way of making a beach destination feel absolutely essential), somewhere walkable so we could stay in one place and explore entirely on foot, and somewhere neither of us had been together before. South Beach checked every single box, and the walkability turned out to be even better than we had imagined. Honestly, it felt made for a babymoon.
Where We Stayed: The Betsy Hotel, South Beach
The Betsy Hotel was the absolute heart of our trip, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. Located on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, it sits at the quiet end of the street where Ocean Drive is pedestrian-only which means your view from the porch is all sunshine, palm trees, and happy people strolling by. No traffic, no noise, just the most beautiful and relaxed atmosphere imaginable.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so genuinely welcome. They congratulated us on the pregnancy, remembered our names, and went out of their way to make every detail of our stay feel special. We stayed in a Classic King room that had the most gorgeous tropical leafy wallpaper — I was so hoping our room would feel like a real getaway the moment we walked in, and it absolutely did.
The hotel has two pools: a quiet, shaded courtyard pool that is perfect for a slow afternoon of reading and relaxing, and a rooftop pool where we had lunch and soaked up the Florida sunshine. Every single morning, we had breakfast on the porch overlooking Ocean Drive, and I genuinely think that became my favorite part of every day. It was lively and warm and completely unhurried all at once.
The hotel also arranges beach chairs and umbrellas for guests directly across Ocean Drive — so each morning we would walk over, claim our little spot, and come and go freely all day long. It made the whole experience feel so easy and effortless.
On our very first full day, we walked from The Betsy to Hotel Victor for couples’ massages at Kalma Spa. I had been dealing with some pregnancy hip pain, and starting the trip with a massage was one of the best decisions we made. Highly, highly recommend building this into your first day if you can.
For anyone planning a babymoon in Miami, The Betsy Hotel is the kind of place that makes a trip feel truly special. Beautiful, warm, and perfectly located for everything you want to do in South Beach.

Where We Ate: The Best Restaurants for a Miami Babymoon

Oh, the food. Eating our way through Miami Beach was one of the greatest joys of this trip, and I want to share every single spot so you can plan your own delicious itinerary. Whether you are plant-based, a seafood lover, or just someone who wants a beautiful dinner with a great atmosphere — Miami Beach has something wonderful waiting for you.
Oh! Mexico
Our very first dinner after arriving, and the perfect way to kick off a warm-weather vacation. We walked straight from The Betsy and ordered chips, guacamole, and cauliflower tacos. Festive, fresh, and completely delicious. If you are arriving hungry and want something fun and easy for your first night, start here.
Havana 1957
Ben had been dreaming of an authentic Cuban meal, and Havana 1957 was everything he was hoping for. He was absolutely in his element. I had a wonderful salad and plantain chips with guacamole, and we left genuinely happy. There are so many Cuban restaurants to choose from in Miami Beach, but this one came highly recommended and did not disappoint.
Española Way
This became one of our favorite recurring spots on the entire trip. Just a couple of blocks from The Betsy, Española Way is a pedestrian street strung with lights, lined with restaurants, and filled with live music and the most wonderfully relaxed energy. We walked here several evenings, tried different restaurants each time, and loved every single visit. It is the kind of place that makes you feel like you are living inside a perfect vacation postcard — and on a South Beach babymoon, that is exactly the feeling you want.
Tropezon
A Spanish tapas restaurant where we had pan con tomate while the sun was setting, and I am not sure I have ever felt more content in my life. Unhurried, beautifully lit, and absolutely delicious. Tropezon was one of my personal favorites of the entire trip and the kind of dinner I still think about. If you love tapas, do not miss this one.
The Drexel
Right next door to Tropezon, and another highlight of our trip. After tapas we went for a leisurely walk and then settled into dinner at The Drexel. Ben had gnocchi, I had spaghetti, and it was one of those simple, perfect evenings that you tuck away and keep forever. A wonderful spot for a relaxed dinner on a warm Miami night.
Paperfish
Fresh, light sushi on a warm Miami evening — avocado rolls and edamame in a fun, welcoming space with great energy. Exactly right for a night when you want something easy and delicious without a lot of fuss. Paperfish delivered beautifully.
What a Miami Babymoon Actually Feels Like
I want to paint a real picture of what our days looked like, because I think it is the most helpful thing I can share with anyone planning something similar.
We did not pack our itinerary. We woke up slowly, had breakfast on the porch, walked to the beach, swam and read and dozed in our chairs, wandered back to the hotel in the late afternoon, freshened up, and found somewhere wonderful to eat dinner. We did this — with small, delightful variations — for five beautiful days. And it was exactly, perfectly right.
The conversations Ben and I had during that trip are ones I will carry with me forever. We talked about our hopes for parenthood, about the kind of home we wanted to create, about what we were most nervous about and most excited for. We dreamed out loud about this little person who was coming. A babymoon is not really about the destination — it is about the unhurried, uninterrupted time together before everything changes. Miami gave us that in the most generous, beautiful way.
Ollie is here now, and I think back on that trip with so much warmth and gratitude. We did not know then exactly who she would be, but we loved her already so much. That is a beautiful thing to know and to remember.
If you are considering a babymoon in Miami, please consider this your warmest possible encouragement to go. It is sunny, walkable, full of incredible food, and genuinely one of the most special places to slow down together before your whole world gets even better. The Betsy Hotel in particular is somewhere I would return to in a heartbeat — and I hope you love it as much as we did.
