Welcome to Episode 002 of the Made by Motherhood Podcast: 5 Time-Saving Hacks for Busy Mompreneurs.
As a mom, you know that time is your most valuable resource — but often it feels like there’s never quite enough of it. In today’s episode, I’m sharing five time-saving hacks that will help you make the most of your day, get more done, and still leave space for the moments that matter most. From time blocking to automating tasks, these practical tips will help you stay on top of your business without overwhelm. Whether you’re working during nap time, after bedtime, or multitasking, these strategies will help you manage your time like a pro.
Time Block Your Day
The first hack I’m going to share is to time block your day — even if your schedule changes from day to day. As a mom, you know that life is unpredictable, so the key here is flexibility. Time-blocking is about dedicating chunks of time to specific tasks… but it doesn’t have to be rigid. Even if your day varies, you can still block out time for your most important work. The beauty of time blocking is that it helps you see where your time is going, and it gives you permission to focus on one task at a time.
If you’re new to time blocking, start by looking at your day and finding two to three blocks of time — maybe 30 minutes in the morning and another 30 minutes in the afternoon. It doesn’t matter if the exact times shift, the goal is to create intentional 30-minute blocks for focused work.
Follow the Two-Minute Rule
Next, we have the two-minute rule. If something will take you less than two minutes, whether it’s responding to an email, tidying up a small space, or scheduling an appointment, just do it right then and there. It’s so easy to put off small tasks, but when you handle them immediately, you’ll avoid that pile-up of little things that can make the day feel chaotic.
Automate
Now onto automation. There are likely tasks you do every day or every week, like sending emails or scheduling social media posts. These are perfect tasks to automate. Whether it’s using tools like Zapier for workflow automation, or setting up email campaigns in Flodesk, automation can free up a huge chunk of your time and make your business run more smoothly.
Set a Work Window
Another great hack is to set a work window for maximum focus on the days where you have one to two quiet hours to work. Focus on the work that matters most or makes the biggest impact for your business. Instead of trying to do too many things at once, focus on just one or two high priority tasks.
Whether it’s during nap time or after bedtime, create a block of time where you can dive into deep work without distractions. Made by Motherhood was created both during my pregnancy and then every evening after my daughter’s bedtime. These quiet hours can make all the difference in moving your business forward.
And finally, consider outsourcing, even if it’s just one task that’s taking up too much of your time, like scheduling admin work or even grocery delivery. Outsourcing can be a game-changer. Start small, delegate what you can, and watch how it frees up time for you to focus on the things that truly matter to you.
Conclusion
These time-saving hacks aren’t about trying to do more; they’re about doing what matters to you with the time you have. By making small adjustments and being intentional with your time, you’ll feel more in control and less overwhelmed.
