The Weekly Edit: Evening Routines + Laundry Room Refresh

The Weekly Edit is a weekly snapshot of the small things shaping my days lately: thoughtful rhythms at home, gentle mindset shifts, and everyday moments that feel especially meaningful in this season. This week was about continued recovery, slower mornings, and trusting that softness can still hold progress. Consider this your pause at the end of the week and a quiet invitation to begin again gently.

Something I’m Loving at Home

This week was very much about getting through it. All of us came down with a second round of cold and flu, and Ollie and I were especially sick. The days felt slower out of necessity, with less structure and more rest, and a lot of focus on simply healing and being together.

Even in the middle of that, there were small moments of comfort that stood out. We’re planning a little laundry room refresh — painting an interior door, adding a shelf above the washer and dryer, and warming up the space so it feels more tied together. Our laundry room sits right off the kitchen, and while I’ve always loved it, I’ve been craving a more welcoming, cozy feel.

Ollie has also declared the laundry room her personal dance floor. When the washer and dryer finish their cycle and play their little song, she runs in for a dance party — which means we’ve been spending more time in there than usual, laughing and moving slowly through a very ordinary part of the house. A sweet reminder that even the most utilitarian spaces can hold joy.

We also had fresh tulips on the dining table all week (until they sadly wilted), and that alone made our home feel like spring might be closer than it looks outside.

Something I’m Wearing / Using

Even while sick, I leaned into a bedtime ritual I know I’ll carry forward. My Oura ring reminds me when it’s time to start winding down, and I’ve been honoring that cue with a long shower, a proper skincare routine, magnesium spray from Alo, and reading in bed. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s made mornings feel less groggy and nights feel more intentional. Proof that calm doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.

Something I’m Reading / Making / Sharing

Right now, Ollie is deep into her “chef” era. She’s obsessed with making recipes — mixing spices together and naming her creations things like spinach lemonade and mixed chocolate. This week, we made a healthy-ish vegan banana bread together, and we’re already planning cupcakes for Valentine’s Day. Chef Ollie is always brainstorming what she’ll make next.

Creatively, I’ve also been enjoying showing up more consistently on Instagram and sharing parts of my story I haven’t talked about much before: motherhood, calm routines, and the journey that led me here as a business owner and mom. It’s been confidence-building in a subtle way, and genuinely fun to create again without pressure. If you’d like to follow along, you can find me @kellyzugay.

Something Worth Trying

I haven’t been to Pilates in a few weeks due to illness, but I’m really looking forward to easing back into movement when my body’s ready.

Something Inspiring Me

This week reminded me that calm can be created in small ways. A better bedtime routine. Fresh flowers on the dining table. A slightly cozier laundry room. Letting creativity show up without overthinking it. None of it is loud or dramatic, but all of it adds up.

Right now, I’m craving a fresh, calm start. Not a reset that demands everything at once, but one that unfolds slowly, with care.

Each Weekly Edit is simply a snapshot of what’s resonating in my life right now, from motherhood and home to creativity, rest, and mindset. My hope is that this space feels grounding, honest, and easy to return to. A new edit will be here every Friday, always rooted in real life.
