Like many women, pregnancy changed my body — and my mind — in major, long-lasting ways. Following my C-section and delivery experience, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about my new body. Of course, I am so proud of all my body accomplished — from pregnancy to delivery and beyond — but experiencing so many physical changes can sometimes feel overwhelming. Following months of recovery, I’m finally feeling stronger than ever — likely because of squatting, bending, picking up, and holding our sweet baby! Regaining my confidence has been a slow and steady process since giving birth 5 months ago. Today, I am excited to share my approaches to boosting my confidence postpartum.
Nourishing My Body
Not only does my breastfeeding journey call for lots of food and hydration, but I also feel more motivated than ever before to care for my body with nourishing foods. From my daily breakfast smoothie to plant-based meals for lunch and dinner, nourishing and caring for my body has been a form of loving my new postpartum body.
Moving My Body
Following months of physical therapy, I’ve finally begun riding my Peloton. I finally feel more capable of moving freely — which is so exciting! Moving my body and seeing how my range of motion has improved over these five months has been so encouraging and empowering. I’m so grateful for my body — being able to lift and carry Ollie comfortably, being able to kneel and squat during playtime, and finally being able to exercise more confidently, too.
Wearing Form-Fitting Clothing
Not only did wearing form-fitting clothing help with compression — something I really valued following my C-section, but it also helped me to see and appreciate my new body. This Yoga Essentials Studio Light Support Nursing Bra by adidas and these 7/8 Leggings have served as soft, comfortable, and versatile pieces I’ve loved and valued.
Creating Comfort and Ease
Since becoming a mother, comfort has taken on a whole new meaning, and I truly value creating moments of comfort and ease wherever I can. This Safe Place Crop Hoodie from adidas is one of my most comfortable pieces — a perfect hoodie for curling up on the couch on a cozy afternoon. Practicing Gratitude
My postpartum experience has been a bumpy road — but I’ve found practicing gratitude has helped me to regain confidence in myself overall. Every day, I wake up and list 3 things I feel grateful for, and it helps me to begin each day with a sense of purpose, calm, and peace of mind.
Whether you’re postpartum, too, or you’re simply looking for ways to boost your confidence in the season you are in, I’m so hopeful today’s post serves as inspiration to you. You’ve got this!
