This weekend, we spent a long weekend in Chicago! It was a wonderful way to begin the holiday season!
We stayed at the Hyatt Place Chicago/River North — and I am so happy we did! Not only did we have an awesome view of the Chicago skyline, but we were also within walking distance of coffee shops, restaurants, and everything we were hoping to do and see: The Christkindlmarket, Millennium Park, The Magnificent Mile, Macy’s on State Street, and Watertower Place! I really recommend it!
On Friday, Ben and I spent the afternoon walking around the city. We visited the Christkindlmarket, and later, we had dinner at Frontera Grill — because any restaurant with guacamole on the menu is where I want to be! ;-)
This year has just been so busy — so it was a big relief not to have an itinerary or plan. We just walked, talked, and window shopped. The city was so beautiful, and everything was decorated so well!
On Saturday, Emily and Courtney joined us, and we spent the day walking around! We walked over 10 miles! We visited Millennium Park, which offered such a great view of the city:
We had lunch and dinner at Lyfe Kitchen — and I was especially excited about their gluten-free menu! On Sunday, we decided to have a slow morning, and along the way, we stumbled upon some really beautiful, historic buildings!
It was the perfect weekend getaway, and exactly what I needed to prepare for a wonderful holiday season! I am just so excited — and so thankful — to have a real break, since so much of last winter was spent preparing for our big move! It was so great to spend time together as a family — to talk, to laugh, and just enjoy being together.
