The Best Farmers Markets in Southwest Florida Naples Estero Fort Myers Bonita Springs - Kelly Zugay - Florida Mom Blog

One of the things I love most about Southwest Florida is the farmers market culture here. From October through May, open-air markets pop up across the region every weekend, transforming parking lots and downtown streets and waterfront parks into the kind of community gathering spots that make a place feel genuinely alive. Fresh Gulf shrimp straight from a fisherman. Organic produce grown twenty miles away. Locally roasted coffee and homemade sourdough and live music drifting through warm morning air.

The best Southwest Florida farmers markets aren’t just about groceries. They’re a whole morning. They’re the kind of experience that makes you feel connected to the place you live in, or the place you’re visiting, in a way that no other outing quite replicates.

Here’s everything worth knowing about the best farmers markets in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Estero, and Naples.

A Few Things Worth Knowing First

Most Southwest Florida farmers markets operate seasonally, typically October or November through April or May, coinciding with the cooler months and the tourist season. A handful operate year-round with reduced vendors in the summer. Saturday is the most popular market day across the region, though several markets run on different days throughout the week.

Bring reusable bags because you’ll fill them. Bring cash, as many vendors prefer it. And if you’re buying fresh seafood, dairy, or produce, bring a small cooler for your car because Florida heat moves quickly and you want to protect the good things you find.

Fort Myers

Lakes Park Farmers Market

The Lakes Park Farmers Market in south Fort Myers is one of the most beloved markets in the region, held at the beautiful Lakes Regional Park. That means you can combine your market morning with a walk through the park, a ride on the miniature train, or an ice cream at the Whistle Stop Shoppe afterward. It’s a genuinely wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning with kids in tow. Local Roots operates nine weekly markets across Southwest Florida including this one, so check their website for current hours and seasonal schedules.

Fort Myers Downtown River District Farmers Market

The Downtown Fort Myers Farmers Market runs along the brick-lined streets of First and Broadway in the charming historic River District, and it’s one of those markets that feels like an event rather than just a shopping errand. Street parking is free, the setting is beautiful, and the variety of vendors is genuinely impressive. This popular market started back up strong in 2026 and is very much worth a visit if you’re in the Fort Myers area.

Gateway Farmers Market

The Gateway market operates at Gateway Soccer Park within the Sherman Soccer Complex and has a wonderful community energy — authentic Mexican food, local craft coffee, honey, fresh produce, and artisan vendors all in one spot. It’s a little more local and a little less touristy than some of the larger markets in the region, which makes it feel genuinely special. Local Roots operates this market, so check localroots.farm for current hours.

Bonita Springs

Bonita Springs Farmers Market

The Bonita Springs Farmers Market is one of the most popular markets in Southwest Florida, and for good reason. It brings a sizeable and impressive selection of fresh Florida produce alongside local food vendors, artisan crafts, and live music that makes the whole morning feel festive. It does get crowded later in the day, so going early is genuinely your best bet. You’ll get the best selection and the most relaxed experience. Local Roots operates this market, so check their website for the current schedule.

Organic Garden Market at Shangri-La Springs

This one is a little different from the typical farmers market experience, and in the best possible way. The Organic Garden Market at Shangri-La Springs in Bonita Springs runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays through season and features herbs, perennial vegetables, fresh fruits, leafy greens, and more from their own beautiful gardens. It’s cash only and a genuinely lovely, intimate experience that feels completely removed from the busier weekend markets. Worth seeking out if you’re in the area on a weekday.

Coconut Point Farmers Market

The Coconut Point Farmers Market is a really wonderful combination of a beautiful outdoor setting and a well-curated vendor mix, with local farmers, artists, and crafters alongside fresh produce and specialty food vendors. Koreshan Park Farmers Market

The Koreshan Park Farmers Market runs every Sunday from November through April inside the beautiful Koreshan State Park in Estero, and it’s one of those genuinely special market experiences that combines fresh produce, local honey, and homemade goods with one of the most beautiful and historic natural settings in Southwest Florida. Naples

Third Street South Farmers Market

The Third Street South Farmers Market in downtown Naples is one of the most beloved Saturday morning traditions in all of Southwest Florida. (It’s one of my personal favorite markets… the one that led me to say “We need to live here someday!”) Held on the beautiful brick streets of Third Street South, one of Naples’ most charming and walkable neighborhoods, it’s the kind of market morning that turns into a full morning out. Fresh flowers, local produce, artisan food vendors, coffee, live music, and some of the best independent restaurants and boutiques in the city right there alongside the market stalls. It’s the Naples farmers market experience: warm, beautiful, and genuinely wonderful.

Vanderbilt Farmers Market

The Vanderbilt Farmers Market in North Naples is one of the largest and longest-running year-round farmers markets in Southwest Florida. Pet and family friendly, with 90+ vendors during peak season and a wonderful mix of fresh and locally grown produce, flowers, honey, baked goods, specialty foods, artisan crafts, personal care products, and home accessories. It’s held every Sunday at the Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt and is genuinely one of the best markets in the region. The fact that it runs year-round makes it especially valuable as a consistent weekly ritual.

A Few Tips for Your Farmers Market Morning

Go early. The best produce, the best baked goods, and the most popular vendors sell out, especially at the busiest markets on peak season Saturdays. Getting there when the market opens is always worth it.

Bring reusable bags. You will absolutely need them. Bring two.

Bring cash. Many vendors prefer it and some are cash only. Having small bills makes everything easier.

Bring a cooler for your car. If you’re buying fresh seafood, dairy, or anything perishable, a small cooler in the car protects your finds on the drive home. Florida heat is no joke.

Make a morning of it. The best farmers market visits aren’t quick errands. They’re slow, wandering, coffee-in-hand mornings that happen to include some really good shopping. Give yourself time to explore, try things, talk to vendors, and just enjoy being somewhere genuinely lovely.

Southwest Florida’s farmers market scene is one of the things that makes living here, or visiting here, feel so genuinely good. Fresh flowers on the kitchen counter, something wonderful from a local baker, a bag full of produce you’re excited to cook with. That’s a Saturday morning worth savoring.
